The Legacy Society is a program created for honoring and thanking alumni and friends of the Foundation who have arranged for a planned gift or bequest to The 1842 Fund in their wills or estate plans. Examples of planned gifts and bequests are: gift provision in a Last Will & Testament; gift provision through a Revocable “Living” Trust; beneficiary designation in a Life Insurance policy; beneficiary deed of gift for personal property; beneficiary deed for real estate; POD (pay-on-death) provision on a bank account; POD provision on a certificate of deposit; TOD (transfer-on-death) provision on a vehicle or boat.
You do not have to give today to be a member of the Legacy Society; you just must complete and deliver a Pledge Card indicating your intent to set up such a gift in your estate plan. Future gifts can range from a simple bequest in your Will to life-estate planning that can include tax benefits or you and your heirs. Making such a gift is simple and confidential. If you choose, your gift will not be revealed intel your will or estate is executed. Should they choose not to make their gift confidential, Legacy Society members are recognized in the Foundation’s annual report and website, invited to special events, and kept informed of the Foundation’s activities.
All gifts to The 1842 Fund are professionally managed, invested, and administered through the Community Foundation of the Ozarks, which has a proven record of serving southern Missouri since 1973.
