Thank You
La-Z-Boy
Each year, the La-Z-Boy Foundation makes a generous donation to the Neosho R-5 Charitable Foundation’s Learning Enrichment Grant Program and to Neosho’s Bright Futures Program. This year was no exception. The “Big Check” was presented Monday, May 21, 2018 to the Foundation for both programs, with $15,000 going to Learning Enrichment Grants and $3,000 going to Bright Futures. La-Z-Boy Foundation, through its employees at the local facility here in Neosho, always reinvests into this community and we are just one example. Thank you La-Z-Boy Foundation, La-Z-Boy Midwest, and La-Z-Boy employees for always being present in funding our missions.

Foundation to Honor Two, Promote
Endowed Fund at Annual Banquet
The Foundation will host its annual banquet Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at 5:30, and the Neosho Junior High School. The focus of the banquet will be the Foundation’s 1842 Fund, the endowed fund of the Foundation, wherein all donations remain in perpetuity, and only the income from gifts to the fund will be used to support the Foundation’s Mission. To punctuate that focus, the featured speaker will be Brian Fogle, an Aurora, Missouri, native, who is presently the President and CEO of the Community Foundation of the Ozarks, to talk about the importance of foundations, such as ours.
An annual tradition, the Foundation will also honor two gentlemen as its Distinguished Alumnus and Distinguished Educator, in Dr. Alan Marble, and David Watkins, respectively.
Dr. Marble, a member of the Class of 1973, among his many accomplishments and credits, has been the president of Crowder College, and is currently the president of Missouri Southern State University. He has spent his professional lifetime championing higher education, especially in terms of funding and making that education widely available to students.
David Watkins is currently the director of Neosho High School’s Speech and Debate Program, and teaches at the high school. He is only the second educator to be honored by the Foundation while still teaching. Neosho’s Debate Program has a rich history of success and recognition, dating back to the 1950’s, and Mr. Watkins has continued that tradition without missing a beat, with his teams receiving national recognition. More importantly, he has had a lasting impact on his students as they venture from Neosho High School out into the world, but continue to credit him with giving them a firm foundation.
As an extra treat, students and educators will be showcasing skills and lessons learned after receiving recent Foundation Learning Enrichment Grants during the social time. Please join us for this wonderful evening, to explore, enjoy, and honor all that is excellent about Neosho Schools.
